This month of July we want to consider the importance of words and in particular the words you and I should speak from the Bible, the Word of God.
The book of Proverbs gives instruction concerning words. There is a principle that is outlined; you must understand and operate to fully walk in all that God has for you.
This principle is stored in Proverb 18:21 -”Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”
- Your words can work for you or against you.
- They can bring life or death.
- They can be a blessing to you or a curse.
- They can build you up and change the situation or tear you down or produce devastating circumstances.
Every time you speak you set in motion spiritual laws that can form your future.
Jesus said that His words are life. If you choose to speak His words you are choosing life rather than death. Words full of love and faith are words of life. Words full of hate, strife, unbelief, and worry are words of death. You choose either death or life by the words you speak on a continuous basis.
Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)
Jesus also said “...that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the Day of Judgment.” For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."(Matt.12:36-37)
Your words, coupled with belief in your heart, brought about God’s salvation in your life according to the Bible. You simply believed in your heart and then confessed with your mouth. You believed that God raised Jesus from the dead, then that is God’s redemptive plan and therefore you are saved. Jesus paid for the sins of all humanity so anyone who believes can go to heaven.
The apostle Paul said it clearly in the letter to the Romans, “…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9,10)
Your words will cause you to be a success, or bring you to failure. The words you have spoken in the past affect your life right now. In a sense, today you are living out all the words you have spoken out about yourself. Words are a Tree of Life to you. God’s word in your mouth can cause you to receive all of God’s blessings in your life. You can become an asset for God by beginning to speak what the Bible says about you rather than some negative report that was spoken over you.
Begin this very moment to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth the things the Bible says about you, not what other people say about you. Look up all the verses about what Jesus said about His believers and exercise your faith in those verses for you and your loved ones. In short order the results will be tremendous..... the Bible actually guarantees it.
Having knowledge of the Word of God and confessing the Word, causes you to complete His work on the earth and keeps you from losing sight of the great commission.
Remember to say the following out loud with conviction, “I’m believing to be at the Right Place, at the Right Time saying the Right Thing and the Right Thing to say is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
