September Message

We have been looking at the importance of words and in particular, the words that comes from your mouth. There are primarily two other reasons that you need to watch the words that you speak. The Psalmist said that a guard is to be placed over your mouth to protect your life.

Psalm 39:1 - To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, "I will guard my ways, lest I sin with my tongue; ?I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked are before me."

Psalm 141:3 - Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.

The book of Proverbs explains that the words you speak can set a snare in your life. You can be snared and caught by the words that comes out of your mouth.

Prov. 6:2 - You are snared by the words of your mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouth.

If you say you cannot do something, you have defeated yourself just like the children of Israel in Number 13 and 14.  Jesus said that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt.12:34). It is just as easy to say you can do something as it is to say you cannot, although the work attached to it might be significantly different.

Prov. 21:23 - Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

Many times, you cause your troubles with your own tongue by speaking words of defeat and failure. Dwelling upon and talking about what satan is doing to hinder you and keep you from succeeding allows him to dominate you and creates troubles in your life.

If you say that you do not have faith, then you will have doubt. If you speak words of failure, your words will take you captive and hold you in failure. Jesus said that by your words you will either be justified or condemned. That is how important words are to God. (Matt 12:37).

Should you not consider your words and their importance? Yes, indeed you are to place great importance on what you say on a daily basis.

If you talk about the Word of God, what God can do, and what you can do through Him, your faith will grow and grow.  The more your faith grows, the more you will do for the kingdom of God.

Having knowledge and confessing the Word of God causes you to complete God’s work on the earth and keeps you from losing sight of the great commission.

Remember to say the following out loud with conviction, “I’m believing to be at the right place, at the right time saying the right thing and the right thing to say is the Gospel of Jesus Christ”.
