This month let me ask you a question: What business are you in?
Do you remember what Jesus at a young age, said to his parents Joseph & Mary once they found him in the temple after searching for him for three days?
Luke 2:49 (AMPC) - And He said to them, How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me to be in My Father's house and [occupied] about My Father's business?
- Jesus as a boy knew His business and that is to be in His Father’s house doing the things that God Almighty wanted done.
- Are we as certain about our business as Jesus was?
- What is our business?
Some of Jesus’ last words are outlined in Matt 28:18-20 - And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
- Notice the two parts to God’s business:
1. GO —> REACHING
2. MAKE DISCIPLES —> TEACHING
-
This is God‘s business: The Redemption Business.
-
The Bible teaches that we are to be in the business that God is in. God has been training us for this purpose and He expects us to do His business.
The second part of a verse in Luke tells us that more is expected of those who know the Word of God.
Luke 12:48 - "…For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.
- Jesus Christ is asking “More” of you can me, but how do we accomplish this?
John 9:4 - "I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
- Jesus said that He needed to work while the day lasted and so do we!
- We must seize every opportunity to do the work of God through reaching and teaching.
Luke 12:50 (NKJ) - "But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!
Luke 12:50 (AMPC) - I have a baptism with which to be baptized, and how greatly and sorely I am urged on (impelled, constrained) until it is accomplished!
- Jesus said He was urged, impelled or constrained till “IT” be accomplished. The “IT” is the reaching and teaching; the actual Business of God.
- We are urged and constrained by Holy Spirit to accomplish this mission as well.
- The question remains, will we respond to that urging or simply bypass it?
Jesus said as recorded in Luke 4:43 - but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent."
- Jesus said “I must preach”. Say it out loud. I must preach the kingdom of Jesus Christ. Now begin to believe what you have just said.
- Be about the Father’s Business—the Business of Redemption.
This month as always, remember to confess this out loud: “I’m believing to be at the Right Place, at the Right Time saying the Right Thing and the right thing to say is the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
